INSIDE MANCHESTER’S DESIGN STUDIOS

Posted by Mike Rigby

On a recent trip around the UK I paid a visit to some old friends in and around Manchester. I thought I’d share a few iphone pics of the various Studios.

Music.

In a slightly scary part of Manchester sits Music. Now spanning all three floors of an old red brick building.

Once inside the space is really nice. Exposed wooden floors, red brick walls, designer furniture and lots and lots of great work.

Thumbs up from friend of TDOD Criag Oldham.

LOVE.

Love sits in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The walls feature some great illustration.

Love the giant break glass window…

Everyone in the company has a plate on the wall.

Glorious.

Also in the Northern Quarter is Glorious. Owned by friends of TDOD Mark and Tommy.

I can vouch they have a fantastic book collection.

And specially made shelves.

And a drum kit… (of course).

The Chase.

The Chase sit over on the other side of town.

The elephant story eloquently summarises The Chase’s approach (less is more).

Dave and Stu give us a wave.

Some Chase work.

Ben Casey’s office is fly postered.

My favourite Chase poster, by Mark Hurst and designed to challenge the readers preconceived ideas about art. (The asterisk leads to the words fine art.)

All you need to know about The Chase: work accepted by D&AD for every year since it’s inception. 25 Years and counting…

Of course no visit to Manchester would be complete with a trip to my favourite pub.

The Marble Arch.

That concludes this slightly pointless (but hopefully interesting) post.
