Over this beautiful bank holiday weekend I went to go and see the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House. It is on until 22nd May, costs £10 or £7 for students and is definitely worth going to see.
Some stunning photography and lots of different styles. I personally found the images that captured specific moments in time much more interesting than the more conceptual and ‘staged’ photographs. But there were many talking points throughout the work.
The winner was Alejandro Chaskielberg – an Argentinian photographer who began his career on local papers. The portfolio of pictures he took while living with islanders in the Paraná river delta, Argentina won him the award – known as L’Iris D’Or. His dramatically luminous images of a community going about their daily lives.
A couple of examples of his work:
Here are a few quick snaps I took on my iphone of a few of the images.
Thanks for posting this Jennie, some ace imagery.
