MINIMALISM

Posted by Jennie Spiller

Some of you will probably of already seen these, as they have been doing the rounds a lot at the moment.
These stripped-back packs have been produced by ‘Antrepo’ – a design group who favour minimalism. They seem to have sparked many a debate between whether ‘less is more’ or if they are too simple and therefore lost their identities.

  1. I like them. They are naturally strong as they cut away the crap /background visual noise. In a way they are a modern and more sophisticated versions of the Fine Fare own Brand packaging featured last month in the packaging archive section.

It could be argued that the world would be a slightly drab place if all packaging was of this ilk. Check out an 80′s film called Repo Man – the incidental packaging is very minimal in that movie.

I came across this today, which applies the same principles demonstrated here.

Far from the government wanting to persuade us not to smoke (by eliminating all branding), these designs actually make me want to buy a pack!
