THE LAND THAT TYPE FORGOT

Traveling down the East coast of Australia the other day we passed through a typographic time warp – a tiny country town called Bellingen. The town has enormous character and charm, thanks to the number of historic buildings that have been preserved. Faded weatherboard facades peer out from the verandahs that line the main street. The town’s New Age tendency is obvious in the whimsical architecture and in the cafés and street advertising.
Even the town clock had stopped…
