3 OUT OF 4

Monday night TV was pretty good for a change. On BBC FOUR, The Gold Smiths programme “But Is It Art?” follows the trials and tribualtions of its fine art students. Then there was a great show “Time Shift” about the development of the art school and some of its famous graduates (why not available on iPlayer BBC?). After that a documentary about Brian Duffy who was one of the greatest photographers of his generation. Along with David Bailey and Terence Donovan he defined the image of the 1960s and was as famous as the stars he photographed. Then suddenly in the 1970s he disappeared from view and burned all his negatives. Try and catch em if you can.

  1. Yes I saw the Art School programme. It was very good, but also very depressing in the context of our current so called Art & Design educational system. Those days will never be replicated even though they need to be.
