This image of a coffee machine was the first ever image transmitted over the world wide web. Why a coffee machine? Well the boffins involved in the development of the web were located on the floor above the coffee machine and they were sick of going down stairs for a coffee and finding that their brew was not ready. They decided to set up and train a camera on the machine in question so they could see when their brew was ready. Obvious really.
